About the business district
Zuidas – literally, the “southern axis” – is a metropolitan area situated roughly midway between Amsterdam city centre and Schiphol Airport and nature reserves of Nieuwe Meer and the Amstel river. With its high concentration of businesses, public institutions and housing, this is a dynamic new part of the Dutch capital. Already a high-profile international business district and a centre of research and education, Zuidas is now evolving into a fully-fledged urban hub – a place to live, work and play. What’s more, the most ambitious building operation in the area’s history has started: Zuidasdok. This infrastructure project at the heart of Zuidas will take the motorway underground and widen it from four to six lanes. Above ground, there will be a completely new Amsterdam Zuid railway station, a terminal for all public transport and a completely re-landscaped green station area.
About Managing Company
The Zuidas municipal organisation is responsible for developing the Zuidas area. Its brief from the Amsterdam City Council is to develop a mixed city district with a unique character. This brief was approved in the Zuidas Vision 2016. This vision offers a flexible framework that facilitates our joint efforts to create a vibrant and strong Zuidas.
The Zuidas municipal organisation is committed to co-operating with national and international business communities, as well as large institutions like VU Amsterdam, Amsterdam University Medical Centres and the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre.
