Passage of the Olympic Flame at Paris La Défense
On July 24, 2024, Paris La Défense experienced a historic moment with the arrival of the Olympic flame, marking an iconic milestone before the official start of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This significant event was part of the Olympic flame relay began on April 16, 2024, in the sanctuary of Olympia in Greece.
After arriving in France on May 8, 2024, the Olympic flame traveled across the country, carried by various athletes and ambassadors. It passed through more than fifteen communes in the Hauts-de-Seine department before reaching Paris La Défense. The final torchbearer lit the Olympic cauldron under La Grande Arche de La Défense, accompanied by Georges Siffredi, the president of the Hauts-de-Seine Department.
To celebrate this historic event, La Grande Arche, which had not been illuminated for over 10 years, was lit up, adding to the festive and electric atmosphere of the evening.
